Introducing Fosbery Studio: handmade decorative lighting
We are always looking for makers whose work sits comfortably alongside our own, people who care about the same things we do. Fosbery Studio is exactly that, and we are delighted to have their lighting in the shop.
If you have not come across them before, here is a proper introduction.

Who are Fosbery Studio?
Fosbery Studio is a small team of designers, craftspeople and engineers making contemporary decorative lighting from their studio workshop in Kent. It was founded by Daniel Fosbery, who moved from North London to Folkestone in 2017 in search of the space to make lighting he was genuinely proud to put his name to.
That name carries some weight. Daniel spent years working as a bespoke lighting designer for a luxury lighting company, then co-founded the lampshade maker Copper & Silk in 2011, becoming its sole owner in 2018. In that time the company built a reputation for quality and service that took its lampshades into Harrods, onto cruise ships and through the doors of some very lovely homes.
Today the studio brings together more than fifteen years of Daniel's design experience alongside the hand stitching and tailoring of Katrin, a trained tailor and textile artist with over twenty years behind her. That mix of skills, old and new, is what lets them make lighting you simply cannot find elsewhere.
Made by hand, made to last
What drew us to Fosbery Studio is the making itself. Everything is produced by hand in their own workshop, using traditional craft techniques rather than shortcuts. Quality is not an afterthought here, it is the whole point.
The materials tell the same story. All the fabrics are 100% natural, with no polyester or plastics. The brass has the kind of longevity that has made it a fixture in good lighting for generations, and it can be recycled again and again. Their wooden pieces are made from sycamore, a fast-growing, responsibly managed timber. These are lights designed to be kept, repaired if they ever need it, and loved for years.

Lighting with a lighter footprint
Sustainability runs through everything Fosbery Studio does, and it matches how we like to work. They recycle their old components at a local salvage yard, right down to the shavings from sawing and drilling. Their packaging is 100% paper, with boxes made from 70% recycled, FSC-approved card. Their main suppliers all sit within 200 miles, and orders go out with a carbon-neutral courier.
None of it is presented as perfect, and we like that honesty. It is simply thoughtful making, with the whole life of each piece considered from the very beginning, so choosing something beautiful does not have to cost the earth.

See it in store and online
We have brought a selection of Fosbery Studio lighting into the treowe shop, with more available to browse and buy online. Come and see it in person if you can. Good lighting is best understood when it is switched on, casting its shape across a wall or catching the light on warm brass.
If you would like a hand deciding what might work in your own home, that is exactly what we are here for. Pop in, say hello, and let us talk you through the collection.
