A little brass bell on a gingham ribbon, the sort of thing that catches the light on a tree, a door handle or the end of a wrapped present. Each one is hand formed in India from recycled tin and finished in warm brass.

The bell stands around 4.5 cm from the top of its handle to the base, and hangs from a gingham ribbon about 1 cm wide and 11.5 cm long, woven in Japan. The handle is either a triangle or a rounded loop, and an order comes all one way or the other rather than a mix.

Because each bell is hand formed, no two are quite alike. Expect small differences in shape and finish, the occasional little dent, and colours that lean warm. That is part of their charm.

There is a wide choice of gingham colourways. One thing to know: the brass can rub off onto pale surfaces, so hang it with a little care.
