A handbuilt bowl by Jenny Bailey, a London ceramicist who carves each piece by hand. She works mostly in black and white clay and raku crank, taking her patterns from the natural world, so no two bowls are the same.

This one measures about 10.5 by 11.5 cm, a slightly taller, rounded form with a tactile carved surface. It looks at home on a shelf, a mantel or a side table, and catches the light as you move around it.

Jenny came to ceramics after a long career in publishing and has spent the last ten years developing this carved, doodle-led style. As she puts it, "I pick up a piece of clay and see where it wants to take me."
