A small handbuilt bowl by Jenny Bailey, a London ceramicist who carves each piece by hand. She works mostly in black and white clay and raku crank, drawing her patterns from the natural world, so every bowl is one of a kind.

This one measures about 10 by 9 cm, a tactile, organic shape that sits happily on a shelf, a windowsill or a side table. The carved surface catches the light and rewards a closer look.

Jenny came to ceramics after a long career in publishing and has spent the last ten years developing this carved, doodle-led style. As she puts it, "I pick up a piece of clay and see where it wants to take me."
