A ceramic match box with a festive bear on the lid, hand made and glazed by ceramicist Jo Laing. It is meant to sit out on show beside a candle, a fireplace or the bed, ready for the winter evenings.

Each lid is made by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, so no two are quite the same. Jo signs and numbers every one. The box has a striker strip, so it works as well as it looks.

Inside you will find 40 coloured, extra long safety matches. It makes a good host gift, or a little treat for your own side table or console.

The glazes react in the kiln, so you may see fine crackles on the surface. That is part of the firing and part of the charm. The box measures 10cm by 6.5cm and is 3cm high.
